PROFILE

I am an abstract painter whose work is shaped by the ocean and my life on a Portuguese island in the Atlantic. Drawing from seascapes, my paintings explore light, movement, and atmosphere through layered surfaces and carefully balanced tonal relationships.

Evolving from a background in photography, my practice embraces a tactile and intuitive approach that places strong emphasis on materiality, texture, and depth. I often experiment with different elements and techniques, allowing each work to develop through a process of exploration and response. I work primarily on wood panel, building my own supports and frames, which allows me to be fully involved in the physical construction of each piece from the ground up.

While rooted in abstraction, I am increasingly drawn toward a more realistic visual language, seeking to balance observation with interpretation. My paintings aim to capture not only the appearance of a place, but also its physical presence and atmosphere.
