HVERIR
2026
Hverir is a textured painting inspired by the geothermal landscape of northern Iceland, where the ground is in constant transformation.
Through layered materials and rough, tactile surfaces, the work reflects the bubbling mud pools, mineral deposits, and shifting colors created by heat rising from beneath the earth. The composition embraces irregularity and raw texture, allowing the surface itself to echo the unstable, living terrain of the site.
Rather than depicting the landscape directly, the painting translates its energy and intensity into a physical experience, capturing a place where nature feels both fragile and powerful, shaped by forces beyond human control.

HVERAVELLIR
2026
Hveravellir is a large-scale textured painting inspired by the geothermal highlands of central Iceland, where vast openness meets hidden subterranean energy.
At the center of the composition, a deep blue form emerges—suggestive of a thermal pool or a quiet opening in the earth—contrasting with the surrounding field of stony, mineral tones. The outer areas are built up with layered materials and rough textures, echoing weathered rock, ash, and deposits shaped by time and heat. This interplay between the cool, saturated center and the muted, rugged edges creates a sense of depth and tension within the surface.
Rather than depicting the landscape directly, the painting distills its essence into a physical and atmospheric experience. The blue core draws the viewer inward, while the textured periphery grounds the work in the raw, elemental qualities of the terrain, capturing a place where stillness and latent energy coexist.
